TopBet welcomes budding entrepreneur Khune into their family

FORMER Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana goalminder Itumeleng Khune is not an ambassador, but a business partner.

He was unveiled last night as TopBet partner at a soiree held in Bryanston, attended by former soccer players and top executives at the betting company.

Khune whose contract with Chiefs ended in June 2024, after lengthy talks not to end it, has now transitioned from being a ‘keeper to a serial entrepreneur.

On the strategic partnership, TopBet CEO Aisling Triggol exclusively told this reporter:” Its intended and structured as an enduring relationship and as such, there’s no termination date in the agreement.

“Itu is not a brand ambassador but a business partner, ” pointed out Triggol, at the launch, who also confirmed talks with Itu to come on board only took six weeks because he’s a genuine businessman and I like his energy.

“I must emphasise that I’m not a brand ambassador for Topbet, but I’m the owner,” Khune told the media. “I’m excited to make a difference in our communities.”

Contrary to popular belief, Khune’s association with Topbet extends far beyond a mere brand ambassadorship. He is a substantial shareholder in the company, actively contributing to its strategic direction and operations.

Khune’s venture into business ownership sets a precedent for athletes. The move also demonstrates that there are lucrative opportunities beyond the sporting arena. He aims to inspire fellow footballers and other sports personalities to explore diverse avenues and venture into entrepreneurship.

“We need to start teaching footballers and all other businessmen and women out there that there are bigger opportunities out there,” Khune stated. “When you meet the right people, you sit down and have a talk around the boardroom table, and you realise there are bigger opportunities to get involved in.”

“To celebrate this partnership, Topbet unveiled a new brand identity featuring a brand-new website and logo, featuring Khune’s iconic image as a symbol of his unique style and dedication,” asserted Triggol, who loves horses and her family.

The recently revamped website now offers a lot more than just pure online sports betting services as part of digitising the brand.

“Known for his commitment, resilience, and leadership, Khune will be at the forefront of Topbet’s initiatives to deliver a world-class betting experience while empowering communities across the country,” read the statement.

Our focus is on Itu, and not involve other ambassadors because that money is needed for other projects such as bursaries and Golf, that aim to develop our communities, concluded Triggol whose business was started as far back as 2008 by his father.

Khune, the North West province (Ventersdorp) born, is also involved in property.
