Two MK Party senior members appeared in court today and given R50k bail each

LATEST: BRIAN Molefe and Siyabinga Gama, both former Transnet executives, appeared at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, on Monday.

The pair handed themselves to the Police today.

They appeared in Court, facing charges of fraud and corruption linked to a R5.18bn locomotive procurement deal.

In Court, they were joined by former chief financial officer Anoj Singh and former procurement head Thamsanqa Jiyane at Transnet. All were given R50k bail.

The National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) investigating directorate confirmed the arrest for all the four, and said will oppose bail.

It was revealed in court, that the four face multiple charges including contravention of the Public Finance Management Act, fraud, and corruption. These are classified as Schedule 5 offences.

They appeared before the court for a bail application, which the court plans to oppose.

NPA indicated the bail for Gama and Jiyane is yet to be determined.

Molefe and Gama are both MKP MPs.
