What does Bloodhound and Castrol have in common?

Raring to go. The Bloodhound SSC is being put together for SA ‘s historical event.

Yes, in 2016 you will get a chance to see the Bloodhound Project take off from your door-step.

‘Hakskeen’ is an Afrikaans word meaning heel and Northern Cape at Hakskeen Pan will be the host venue.

Castrol as a global headline sponsor of the Bloodhound Project that is preparing to set a World Land Speed record in South Africa, invited select guests at the Johannesburg Castrol Edge Speed Cult to explore a number of innovative tools designed to bring the Bloodhound experience within easy reach.

Sought after models in the form of Ford GT40, Jaguar F-Type S Coupe, Nissan GT-R and a yet-to-be-launched Ford Mustang, were on display.

Our fellow South Africans Chris Wall, Lindiwe Mtshali and Philip Baker won the chance to see their names rush to 800mph – or 1 287km/h – and a new World Land Speed record next year and their names will be printed on the Bloodhound SSC tailfin.

“We are extremely proud to be involved in this event and to see our brand being represented in a global spectacle happening right on our doorstep,” says Shren Moodley, Castrol’s Marketing Manager for Africa.

“At Castrol, we have over 110 years built a proud history of fuelling pioneers and this partnership gives us the chance to showcase how our high performance products set new standards and continue to push boundaries.”

Historically, Castrol has supported the spectacular feats of early pioneers and record breakers, and its notable heritage in land speed racing is further testament to this.

The record has been set 21 times with Castrol as a partner. It was instrumental in Sir Malcolm Campbell’s first attempt in 1924 (he reached 235 km/h in the Sunbeam), and Castrol was on hand when Bloodhound pilot Andy Green set the current record (1 228 km/h) in Thrust SSC in 1997.

Modeled around. Top of the range Mustang Coupe was on display at the media launch of Castrol EDGE Cult Speed.

The Bloodhound SSC is currently being built at the team’s base in Bristol, UK in time for the race in SA (2106), for the very first time.

Fast and furious BMWs mesmerised by the smoking clouds and ear-splitting engine roared to complete an amazing evening.

Indeed, this is gonna be a bloodhound

Now you have a convincing answer why the two brands are in common. Aha!
