At the launch MEC for Sport in Gauteng Molebatsi Bopape says, this a youth programme with a difference and reiterated this year government would put a special focus on what young people want.
“We want to know what makes you tick,” she said.
This year’s Youth Month takes place at Nasrec Expo Centre under the theme “Youth Moving Gauteng City Region Forward”, from June 8 until 17.
It focuses on Jobs, Career and Entrepreneurship Expo.
Young people across the province have attended the expo and would be exposed to new ideas, opportunities, various cultural activities as well as a series of lectures by high profile speakers, such as Community Safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi – Malobane, Roads Transport MEC Ismail Vadi, other MEC’s, educators, learners and officials to celebrate youth development.
MEC Bopape said this year’s event was a prelude to the 40th Anniversary which would be celebrated in 2016.
“As we come towards commemorating the 39th anniversary of the June 16 student uprising, we remember that the youth were the ones who eventually drove this country towards 1994 and democracy,” Bopape said.
