Airport Authority CEO on suspension

Just last month, Velvet Airlines terminated their relationship unconstitutionally. As a result we’re yet to get official comment on what triggered the termination.  The only comment we got from GAAL was they’re still pursuing talks with the airline.

To add tons of salt into the wounds of the company, it has been reported that the CE Thulani Zulu has been put on suspension.

According to the press statement, Zulu has been put on precautionary suspension following several allegations of misconduct against him by the board.

The suspension has been effective from February 13, 2012.

The press release went further to state:”Please be aware that the suspension is a procedural exercise to allow the investigation process to be both fair and just.

If these allegations are confirmed, the Board will most likely take appropriate disciplinary action to conclude the matter.”

It also read that, “we would also like to assure the public that operations at GAAL remain normal as the board has implemented plans to ensure that the running of the airport is not affected in any way.”

Attempts to obtain comment from Zulu or board members did not materialize.

Rumour mill has is that, GAAL has been affected by the National Government’s decision to put under administration the province five departments.
