Zondi's final rest on Sunday!

Thousands of mourners ranging from celebrities, politicians, musicians, music executives, Metro FM staff and ordinary citizens, graced the sombre but praising memorial.

‘Zondi Baby’ as he was known to his million listeners across the length and breadth of this country, was hailed as humorous, jolly, witty and a hardworking character.

To his family he was a father, friend and a soul provider!

I personally met Eddie during a meeting, when he initiated his ‘Sunday Movement’ and came across as a humble and honest somebody. From then on, we kept bumping onto each other at soccer matches-true Orlando Pirates fan- and at selective music events.

“Dumela Ntate” his greeting signature will forever be etched in our minds.

Yes, he stuttered and on-air he showed no signs of that. Talk of a true professional!

His colleague and sport show host Robert Marawa took a flight back to attend memorial and the funeral. He’s covering the 2014 Brazil WC.

Bra Mike “Nana” Ntombela former Bafana and Sundowns defender; who was Zondi’s close confidante also flew back from Brazil upon receiving the startling news.

The music industry is poorer without you.

His funeral service will take place on Sunday at University of Johannesburg- Soweto Campus from 9am before proceeding to his final destination West Park Cemetry.

Robala Ka Kgotso Makhozonke! Pula…
