'30' is what Ligwalagwala is celebrating

The station has been on air for a record 30 year’s which is a milestone for one of SABC radio flagship in the country.

Boasting a million listernership, Ligwalagwala usually caters for the Indebele, Shangaan and Tsonga market.

 “Radio is an ever changing industry in which one has to make changes to remain relevant. As we try to grow our listenership we have to cast the net wide in terms of human capital. In essence, listeners can expect unprecedented changes to our lineup as of April onwards” said Rio Mabunda Ligwalagwala FM station manager.

The 30 year-mark is a milestone not to be taken lightly, many say that life begins at ‘30’ hence the station is taking broadcasting to a much higher level with new innovations.

The celebrations take place at Nelson Mandela Stadium on MaStadium on March31 with entertainment ranging from gospel, kwaito, hip hop, afro pop and house music from 10 am until the wee hours of the following day.

The likes of Bouga Luv, Rebecca, Sifiso Ncwane, Sipho Makhabane, Chillax, Shota, Shisa boy, Nativz Squad, Madumane, Shabba and Dj Afro and a whole lot more artists form part of the special 30 that will be entertaining music lovers from 10:00am till 04:00am the next morning.

Apart from the celebrations, a new presenter from a well-known commercial radio station will be unveiled as well as the new line-up at the station.

The locals have grown accustomed to celebrating the party; hence the station management has once again offered the free concert as part of loyalty.

All listeners have to do is get themselves the pass that will be given out in various areas around the province, all details will be announced on air in due time. It is essential for everyone who wishes to attend this event to make sure they get that ticket which will also serve as the coupon for getting on the bus for the park and ride system.

No parking will be allowed at the stadium.
