Heartache. Vusi Nova released his latest album Naninina that is steeped on heartache and losing parents.

The crooner released his album-third- at a packed media launch this week, thus dispelling the notion that he’s being playing second fiddle to fellow stable-mate Nathi.

True, that’ s a story for another day?

As one would expect, Nova opened the evening with his admired Thandiwe, accompanied by dancers known as The Xhosa Nostras and a new addition to the stable saxophonist Bongani Radebe.

Nova described his latest album as his most emotional and personal album. “This album for me is the most personal in the sense that I lost both my parents.

The title track of the album, Naninina, is my tribute to them. I put my mother through hell for a couple of years with my drug problem and I am thanking them for having put up with me through the song. “I recently broke up from a three-year relationship.

The Port Elizabeth born says the title track of the album, Naninina, is a tribute to them. I put my mother through hell for a couple of years with my drug problem, and I am thanking them for having put up with me through the song.

“I recently broke up from a three-year relationship.

The past three months have been a heartache. So yeah, I bare my soul on this album,” he was quoted.

He also dedicates Yan’imvula, steeped in deep Xhosa rhythms, to fellow singer Berita, who once told a story about how it was pouring rain when she was born.

Nova and Ntsika Ngxanga from The Soil co-wrote the track.

Other songs include Xandingakuthemba, Ndikuthandile and Ndonele, among others.

This album says a lot about Nova, his personal upbringing experiences and a broken heart that is hard to mend!
