He was speaking exclusively to this reporter on the sidelines at the launch of Men of Status new fragrances, in Bryanston this week.
Showing signs of blisters on his lip due to influenza, the Kaizer Chiefs left -footed midfielder Lebese says the Status brand shows maturity, it’s refreshing and represent a different scent.
Although the deal is a one-year relationship, the former Bafana Bafana midfielder says his hope is to have a long, lasting partnership with Status since the brand has been associated with athletes and football in the past.
The speedy winger has been announced as brand influencers alongside Major League DJs -Bandile & Banele Mbere and Proverb.
The four-some will lead the revolution of new Men of Status fragrances to hit stores nationally in October 2017, along with a new look brand’s top selling variants such as Wild Ivory, Respect, Aztec Jade and Spiced Musk.
“Through their infectious and unstoppable energy, each of the four self-made achievers have put in the hours, persevered and got things done. Together they embody the collective attitude of what it means to hustle.
At Status, we understand the high-pressure, high-risk environment of the hustle. It’s why Status is an integral part of the mental and physical preparation for the hustle,” says Angel Musoni, Senior Brand Manager: Personal Care at Tiger Brands.
The four have been paired with four different fragrances:
Lebese- Pure Endurance
Proverb- Strong Legend
Bandile Mbere- Rich Ebony
Banele Mbere- Fierce Spirit
Businessman and extraordinaire born Tebogo Thekisho (ProVerb), who last week was appointed on the Flight Center Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) SouthAfrica board as a non-executive director, says it’s all about hustling and ticking the right boxes.
Asked on the deal Proverb attributed all his achievements to God’s mercy.
“It’s all about striving to do the right thing and God will do the rest,” he says gleefully.
He also made a calling to youngsters particularly those from Khathu-his home province in Northern Cape- were he addressed more than one-thousand matriculants, stop idolizing celebrities.
“Being a Status influencer comes with lots of responsibilities and my message to our young brothers and sisters -is it’s possible. Yes, it’s never easy but look at me, use me and confront me on issues or ideas you may think of to develop yourself.
Instead of idolizing approach those celebrities and find out how he/she can help you to better your thinking, etc,” says Proverb, who also confirmed his partnership with Status brand is for six months.
The speedy winger Lebese also known as ‘Geeza’ or ‘Milkshake‘ because of his light shade of skin, also sent his message of condolences to the family of deceased fans and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
“My heart bled when I heard the news. Our fans pay lot of money to come and see us, as part of entertainment with their families and suddenly one hears that lives have been lost is painful. I hope this will never, ever repeat itself.
