What’s next for Zikalala and allies following the court’s ruling?

No smiling matter. ANC’s KZN Provincial chairman Zihle Zikalala and allies face serious ramifications following the court’s ruling on Tuesday.

Handing down the judgement at the Pietermaritzburg High Court Judge Jerome Nguni on Tuesday said the outcome of the eighth KZN provincial elective conference in November 2015 was unlawful and void.

This means the current KZN provincial chairperson Sihle Zikalala and allies stand to lose big time.

The province is the largest ANC backer with president JG Zuma having a vast followership.

Following the court’s ruling ANC ‘s spin doctor Zizi Kodwa  was quoted: “There are no implications to the national conference in December because there is no relationship between the two,” he told HuffPost SA.

ANC KZN’s Mdumiseni Ntuli said it “is inevitable” that the ruling will be appealed within the 16-day period which the court has granted them.

“We, together with our legal team, are going to be studying the content and implications of the judgement so we can consult the national executive committee on the way forward,” he said.

KZN’s veteran leaders, who were ousted in the 2015 provincial elective conference, and who still enjoy favour in many regions, are fighting to overthrow the Zuma camp, as the ANC 2017 national elective congress in December approaches.

The outcome of court could pave way for Ramaphosa and allies to ascend to the highest office in the country.

Political commentators and analysts had a field day and some believe the court ruling could also be applied by other provinces.

But the question on everyone’s lips is will the killings that have wreaked havoc and claimed lives of Councillors in the KZN be a thing of the past or not, following the court’s order?

It’s gonna be muddy since gloves are now off…
