Roskruge beat other 26 hopefuls drawn from all corners of South Africa to train and mingle with English Premier League last season winners’ Chelsea for a week.
Due to potential and commitment shown by other players at the camp held at the High Performance Center in Jozi, the coaches decided to select two runners-up Joshua Roman(20) (Bonteheuwel) and Alanzo Khun(19) (Mitchells Plain) all fromCape Town, respectively.
The players’ will travel to the Cobham Training Centre in Chelsea, London to train with the Chelsea Coaching staff and players and also watch a match of the ‘Blues’ in action for their EPL campaign.
“We are so honoured to offer this experience to this talented group of players. Our hope and aim is to provide a platform where they can showcase their skills and passion for the game. We hope that this week has further challenged them as skilled football players and will help them see some of their goals and dreams become a reality,’’ explains Garth Marshall, Senior Brand Manager for Shield South Africa.
The players’ were under the watchful-eye of former Kaizer Chiefs defender S’phiwe Mkhonza and Steve Winnett, International Football Development Officer for the Chelsea Football Club, amongst others.
Roman (20) and Khun (19) will meet if, not all members of the team-the likes of Eden Hazard, Victor Moses and Cesc Fàbregas, alongside one lucky fan from SA Elias Moloi from Mpumalanga.
