Racist tweets gets model into hot water

Former FHM model Jessica Leandra dos Santos says she has “brought this nation to its knees”.

The 20-year-old responded to an open letter from DA spokesperson Mmusi Maimane in which he said her racist tweets, along with a response from Tshidi Thamana, have dealt a severe blow to the efforts to reconcile our nation.

Maimane also offered his home as a meeting place for the two models to reconcile.

Jessica’s letter thanked Maimane for his open letter addressed to her and Tshidi. She wrote: “Having read your letter in great detail I am most willing to embrace your idea believing that you have it in your heart to help me bring healing to this matter.”

The letter also attempts to explain why Jessica has not granted any interviews to the media.

“My inbox has been flooded with requests and invites for radio interviews, press reports and the like since my irresponsible Twitter ordeal. Admittedly, I have chosen to ignore these requests as I don’t believe that telling my side of the story is really what the nation wants to hear.

“It further concerns me that these requests for interviews aim to score points for journalists and/or listenership ratings on his or her show.”

The former FHM Modelbook 2011 winner urges Maimane “that this should not become a party political issue”, and if that does happen, she is “regrettably not interested” in working with the spokesperson.

Last week Jessica Leandra posted the following message on her Twitter page:

“Just, well took on an arrogant and disrespectful kaffir inside Spar. Should have punched him, should have”.

Tshidi Thamana responded with the following message on her now deactivated Twitter account:

“Dear Mr Peter Mokaba?… I wish all whites had been killed when you sang ‘Kill the Boer’, then we wouldn’t have to experience @JessicaLeandra’s racism [sic].”

Both subsequently apologized for their tweets.
