This follows some uneasiness amongst other opposition parties which has viewed the changes as smokescreen by the department.
Papo mapped out his Health strategy to his peers on how to turn around the ailing department which has been plagued by non-payment and mismanagement, amongst others.
This resulted in the Premier Nomvula Mokonyane reshuffling the department and others.
IFP in Gauteng welcomes the openness and none dogmatism displayed by the newly appointed Health MEC Hope Papo and particularity commends the latter for his intent to meet all the political parties represented in the Health Portfolio Committee to hear their views which according to the party is step towards the right direction, says the party in a press statement.
“However the party believes that you may try to change the system or a way of doing things but if you fail to change the minds of those you are entitled to serve it remains an unconcealed truth that you are doomed for failure,” says IFP Caucus Leader in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) Bonginkosi Dhlamini.
“The IFP in the province is of the view that if the scrutiny upon the health strategy plan is on point then this calls for a thorough inquiry since health remains one of the besieged departments in the province despite being a focal point of government and a beneficiary of more funds from the overall provincial budget,” says Dhlamini.
Papo and his department are expected to bring back the glory days at the besieged department, sooner to avoid further law suits from irate suppliers.
