Lemao’s corporate began at Iscor Mining (Kumba Resources)) where she assumed various roles in HR but it was at Nampak Tissue, probably best known for brands such as Twinsaver and Cuddlers, that she came into her own, working her way up from HR Manager to HR Director.
The single mother, who hails from Attridgeville, North West of Pretoria, was schooled in both Limpopo Province and Pretoria.
She studied at the University of Westville in KwaZulu-Natal and at University of Johannesburg, were she completed an executive training programme through UNISA.
“My appointment is not about gender, it’s about being the best I can be and making the organisation the best it can be,” she said.
“Having worked in the mining and manufacturing sectors, I’m familiar with historically male environments, “she says. “So while the automotive sector is new, working with males is not.”
