De Villiers who is notorious with sponsorship deals for Blue Bulls and SAIL was announced last week as the man who succeeded Stan Matthews who left the position vacant since his resignation in July last year.
De Villiers admitted his knowledge for soccer is limited and his duties will be to implement the wishes of the PSL members.
Speaking for the first time since his appointment at the PSL headquarters, yesterday De Villiers who was headhunted says he joined soccer due to its popularity.
Meanwhile, football fans said although they understand the new CE has limited knowledge of football, they would welome him with open arms and look forward to the new season in the league.
