“There’s no doubt that the qualities learnt on the football field are synonymous with life. Through the league, we aim to instill qualities such as determination, fair play, tenacity and focus.
If these qualities can be learnt and applied on and off the field, we believe we would have given them a great platform on which to journey through life,” says Thembiso Mashele, Investec CSI consultant managing the league.
Investec, an international specialist bank and asset manager with offices worldwide, has provided teams with support through the provision of kits and football clinics.
A celebrity football guest speaker will give presentation.
According to Mashele, all participating schools are involved in Investec’s flagship Promaths programme which provides additional tuition in maths and science for learners in grades 10 to 12, setting the foundation for further education.
“These subjects are core to addressing the country’s skills gap and reducing unemployment.”
