With that in mind, SAFA has given both Sundowns and the PSL tight deadline to choose an arbitrator to oversee the case.
The PSL appealed the decision of their own Disciplinary Committee to have Masandawana fined R250 000 and Wayne Arendse R50 000, after the defender played in an Absa Premiership match against Bidvest Wits but was not originally on the team sheet.
The PSL wants the ruling to be overturned with Wits given 3-0 win and for Arendse to serve a two-match ban.
According to quotes on KICK OFF, Sundowns general manager Yogesh Singh said about the matter: “We’ve written a letter to the PSL to ask how this decision to appeal our matter was taken.
“We sent a letter last night and we are yet to receive a response, but just now we got a letter from SAFA saying that we must choose an arbitrator.
“They send the letter to both sides, saying that we should choose an arbitrator for the matter. Then if the parties can’t agree on an arbitrator, then SAFA will appoint one.
“That’s what’s unfolding, but we expected that. Let’s see how it goes.”
Sundowns are currently top of the PSL table, two points ahead of Orlando Pirates with the final league game of the season against Free State Stars to be played on Saturday.
A 3-0 win awarded to Wits would see league leaders Downs deducted a point‚ from their current 56 to 55.
Third-placed Wits would go from their current 51 points to 53‚ one behind second-placed Orlando Pirates on 54, additional reporting by Mduduzi Mphahlele.
