George wins SA Rémy Martin Bartender Academy Talent leg and prepares for France

Hunter, the mixologist, as what the bartender competition is all about- was declared the regional winner at the function held at Mesh Club last month.

The purpose of the competition- now in its third edition- is to gather top bartenders from around the country and showcase their signature cocktails in front of guest judges and the live audience.

Capetonians -David van Zyl from Cause & Effect in Cape Town (second place) and Ryan Ontong -Gorgeous George Hotel & Bar took third position, respectively.

In France (the mecca of cognac) George will face off with other top mixologists from all over the world.

In 2018 Julian Short from Sin + Tax Bar represented SA in France.

“In October, George will be flying out to France to compete at the Remy Martin Bartender Talent Academy and represent South Africa  against the world’s best bartenders nation-wide. George is a true mixologist at heart and we have no doubt he will truly represent South Africa well in France,” read a statement from the organisers.

Has anyone seen George- one may curiously ask?
