Philly’s Games back in full throttle in Tembisa

“SUPPORTING our own shows we care and this easily brushes off to the young-ones,” says Mamelodi Sundowns midfield star Themba Zwane.

He was speaking at the launch of the fashionable Philly’s Game held the swanky Hang Awt restaurant- owned by globetrotter DJ Shimza in Tembisa, on a wet and cold evening, graced by fans, club officials and large media contingent.

“Mshishi” as Zwane is known to football darlings countrywide is a Tembisa born, and was joined by fellow compatriot and AmaZulu player George Maluleka at the launch.

Both players were unearthed from this tournament.

The games will begin from December 19 until January 2, 2023.

Nineteen teams will be vying to pocket R200 000 first prize, while the runners-up are guaranteed R70 000, bronze medallists will get R20 000 and fourth-place finishers will bag R10 000.

“Being a product of the games mine is to support all the teams, and whenever possible attend some of the games, considering our football season will be back in full swing,” says “Mshishi”.  

Elated founder of the tournament Philly Mathebula said: “The relationship with DStv is a partnership of two organisations that have the community’s best interests at heart. In addition to the football action, the Philly’s Games provide an entertainment alternative for the Tembisa community.

The tourney will be live on DStv following a partnership to beam live the games from beginning to the end.
