So off we attended the album launch and listening session of house music duo’s MSK & Mr Luu in the hip and happening Maboneng last week.
House Gods– their latest offering, is made up of 10- tracks.
As expected the evergreen Drumboss (Heavy K), also dished out a thing or two hits, much to the applause and ravaging dance from guests and members of Corps.
This a fully-fledged album, an art if you like that everyone will dance to, agreed both MSK (Mpumelelo Mbatyoti and Mr Luu (Lunga Rululu) during post interview.
“This is a big moment for us hence we tagged the album House Gods. Simply put, it means we know and stand by our story without sounding arrogant or what,” they remarked, “we’ve been in the industry and know of do’s and dont’s,” they continued.
Heavy K, has been with the guys since 2005 from Port Elizabeth, were the formation of Point 5 (group of DJs/Producers) was crafted.
He’s our brother, our hero and a family member. ‘We’ve learnt and continue to learn a lot from him, they agreed in unison”.
“Since our break in 2005 we wanted to be different from the production to the last end, because we realized most artists were imitating international stars (copycats) and wanted to fix that problem. And we did hence today we’re one of household brands.”
On the relationship with Sony, they tell its only three-months on their books and look forward to a healthy and money making relationship.
On House of Gods, they’ve collaborated with Jooma (Somandla) a dance single who aided with vocals, and others.
Heavy K- only heaped praise on his home-town boys and showered them with loads of love.
Both the album and video are trending, they told this reporter, amid the rain and strong winds felt by Joburgers on the evening.
Posed to them why they did not feature any of AmaPiano beats, they shot from the hip and uttered “we do not mix issues and we shall remain in our lane. We don’t follow the trend”.
