Aces star suspended for six months!

Safa also confirmed the ban last night.

“The Safa arbitrator found Khenyeza guilty of unsporting behaviour when playing for Ajax [Cape Town] last season,” Aces said on their official website, also naming the arbitrator as Advocate Terry Motau.

AmaZayoni added that the sentence will be effective from tomorrow’s game at Lamontville Golden Arrows. Khenyeza, was also fined R100000, wholly suspended for 12 months.

Last year, a PSL disciplinary committee handed Khenyeza a draconian 12-month ban for spitting at assistant referee Zakhele Siwela while still on the books of Ajax. A Safa appeals board overturned the sentence and handed him a R25000 fine, reasoning that the PSL had not proven its case beyond reasonable doubt. The PSL then went to arbitration.

“I am relieved that this matter has been finalised and I’m happy with the outcome,” Khenyeza said on the Aces website.

“I would like to thank the Aces directors, especially Mario Morfou and George Morfou [the club’s co-directors] for their support. All I want to do now is to concentrate on playing for Black Aces. I respect the outcome and also want to thank my legal team.”

George Morfou said: “I was always confident that the initial outcome for Mabhuti was a little harsh and felt that our backing of him would pay dividends.

“We have signed him for three years, and a six-game suspension is very fair and equates to about a one-month sentence.”
