Zulu nation temporary regent announced to allay any instability

The contentious issue that continues to wedge a rift amongst the Zulu nation, was made public by the traditional prime minister Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, yesterday.

The announcement follows a marathon meeting of members of the Zulu royal family and the late King Goodwill Zwelithini’s lawyers on Wednesday at KwaKhethomthandayo Royal Palace.

Prince Buthelezi told journalists who camped outside Royal Palace that:” Queen Mantfombi becomes the regent in an “interregnum” — until an official successor is named.

He said an official three-month mourning period had been declared, adding that there should be no expectation of a new king when it comes to an end.

“Three months is for mourning, it is for family mourning according to our tradition and she cannot do anything while in mourning, she will be assisted by the royal council in the meantime,” said Buthelezi.

Although the regent has been installed temporarily, the issue of succession amongst the Zulu nation will continue to make headlines, eternally.

King Goodwill Zwelithini KaBhekuzulu was interred last week at KwaKhethomthandayo Royal Palace. The ceremony was attended by Kings, Queens, Presidents, Gvt officials, Indunas, Chiefs and ordinary South Africans.
