This event took place at one of the world’s favourite playgrounds, the prestigious Lost City Country Club at the Sun City Resort, situated in the breathtakingly beautiful Pilanesberg, North West Province.
More than 100 golfers were treated to a magnificent round of golf and a prize-giving dinner in the Royal Ballroom. It was a tough day on the course for some, but the proud winners walked away with the first ever Bestmed Cup and will return in 2015 to defend this much sought after title.
Dries la Grange, CEO of Bestmed said: “It is a privilege to host a golf day such as the Bestmed Cup to show our appreciation to individuals and companies who have been dedicated and passionate about our medical scheme. We hope to grow the Bestmed Cup into something spectacular to look forward to on an annual basis.”
Bestmed has, as part of their Corporate Social Investment, formed a collaboration with the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) in order to drive awareness and funding for CANSA’s wide-reaching service. CANSA representatives are present at each of Bestmed’s events to ensure that the public are well educated and protected against the sun.
Springbok Lock, Flip van der Merwe, presented a cheque of R15 000.00 to CANSA on behalf of Bestmed at the prize-giving dinner.
The sponsors; Mediscor, Clicks, Planet Fitness and Old Shanghai Firecracker Factory, all contributed to a successful and well executed event.
Bestmed’s wellness philosophy is based on five basic pillars; Be Active, Be Safe, Be Nutri-Wise, Be Happy and Be Fin-wise. Health and overall wellbeing is the driving force behind these pillars and therefore Bestmed was once again one of the proud sponsors of this years’ well attended Lost City Cycle Challenge, which took place over two days.
Bestmed is still raising the bar in the medical aid industry to the point where they have grown their membership to reach fifth biggest open medical scheme in South Africa.
La Grange added: “While we remember five challenging yet fruitful decades, we look forward to the journey that will see another 50-years’ of continuous improvement, growth, sustainability, financial stability, satisfied members and service providers.”
Bestmed surely proved that it is possible to create a culture where employees are happy, members are looked after, service providers become real partners and the less fortunate are supported.
