The 40th iteration of the NGC ready to tee-off at Sun City- Gary Player Golf Course

A WORLD-CLASS field of 66 professionals will contest this week’s historic 40th edition of the Nedbank Golf Challenge at the Gary Player Country Club at Sun City, including defending champion Tommy Fleetwood, current European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald and a strong local challenge of 10 South Africans.

Fleetwood is back as the longest serving defending champion following his victory in 2019 and then a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

The South African challenge features Thriston Lawrence, Oliver Bekker, Zander Lombard, George Coetzee, Justin Walters, Shaun Norris, JC Ritchie, Branden Grace, Richard Sterne and Christiaan Bezuidenhout all chasing the just over $1 million first-place cheque.

The celebrations for this milestone playing of “Africa’s Major” include an expanded entertainment line-up for the anticipated record number of fans set to attend.

Jesse Clegg, the Martin Bester band, big-screen Springbok rugby, the return of “Africa’s Mini Major” putting competition, and even a BMX and skateboarding extravaganza will form part of the entertainment in the Hospitality Village from 10-13 November.

Golf fans will also be able to play their part in growing the game they love by donating their used or unwanted golf balls to the DP World golf ball container.

DP World has collected used golf balls from around the world on the DP World Tour this season and placed them all in a bespoke shipping container that will be on-site at the Nedbank Golf Challenge.

South African golf fans will be donating specifically to the South African Disabled Golf Association (SADGA).

Tickets for the Nedbank Golf Challenge, starting at R40 for the Pro-Ams and R250 for Tournament Rounds, are available, while Hospitality Packages for the Circa Champions Club, Circa Pavilion or Circa 18th Green can be purchased here.
