After being with the organization for eight years, Kunene has been the face and strategist at the TGCSA, a unit of South African Tourism.
This was confirmed by the agency.
“I thank Thembi for her dedication and service during her employ with South African Tourism.
Her leadership at the TGCSA and her formidable strategic approach has certainly contributed to elevating South Africa’s position as a world-class, quality assured tourism destination, both locally and globally,” says SAT boss Thulani Nzima.
During her stint, Kunene founded the premier tourism recognition programme, the annual Lilizela Tourism Awards, amongst others.
TGCSA’s mandate is quality assurance and grading for establishments and venues in the country.
Kunene was not available for comment.
