Royal Heritage Fest forging ahead without Makhadzi, as plans are meted out to celebrate this years’ edition!

“WE made her and produced the best out of her. Now she turns around and makes unpopular demands.”

Livid co-producer of the annual Phalaphala FM Royal Heritage festival, scheduled for September 14, at Nandoni Dam, Venda, shared the news with this reporter. It celebrates its 10th edition this year.

He was referring to Makhadzi, who made a startling demand of R200k to feature on the line-up, and in turn of events the same Makhadzi organised three-shows that run parallel to the PhalaPhala fest, on the same weekend.

She turned down the R150 000 booking fee.

“Look, we tried on numerous times to engage her and the team, but failed. She’s one of our own but if she’s big headed, and does what she think is appropriate, its OK. But everyone should know that we made her, and we’re not ashamed for stating that,” said the co-producer worriedly.

Deep in her heart, she knows what we did for her, turning around her background and putting on her on the stardom. ‘She knows that we know a lot about her’, he said, without revealing much.

“Clearly, she planned all this, cos why would she organise three events that are taking place, parallel to our fest in the same region?” he asked in dismay.

It has come to our attention, Makhadzi responded, indicating: “I am setting the record straight so that my fans and followers shouldn’t say I intentionally refused to be there or I am becoming big-headed.”

“Festival’s organisers don’t have a fixed budget, making it difficult for me to honour the gig.

Makhadzi said, “I am not going to Phalaphala Royal Heritage; they say they don’t have a budget.”

“I realised that there were already false rumours spreading about my name in this regard. I’m still Makhadzi of the nation under the motto: no pay, no job, and vice versa,” she said.

Back to the fest, the organisers said its all system go and tickets are selling fast as expected, since we’re ‘celebrating our tenth edition’.
