“The Rose of Soweto” should be turning in his grave following latest revelations

LATE heavy-weight boxer Dingaan Thobela’s family seem to not be seeing eye-to-eye due to legal fights over his estate.

According to African news, The professional boxer affectionately known as, ‘The Rose of Soweto’,  from 1990 to 2006, tragically died in April due to an undisclosed illness, adding that, during his time in the ring he won 40 out of 56 fights

Despite his passing, SundayWorld adds that the boxer’s parents are left with questions as to what might have led to his death. Reading a letter on behalf of the parents Ndivhuo Nemugumoni, said:

“We thought that one day we would be buried by you, but instead we are burying you. This is a very painful experience considering that your passing was so sudden. We are left with so many questions and unspoken words. Though we know that it is all God’s plan. Who are we to question it? You were the Rose of Soweto but to us, you were an ambitious and humble boy.

“When I, Godfrey, your father, discovered your talent and decided to send you to Bab’ Hlabane, we did not think you would be a three-time world champion. Through all your success you remained humble. And that’s what we loved about you.”

Although it was known that Dingaan had 14 children, entertainment publication, ZiMoja reports that the late boxer’s father Godfrey Thobela has been fighting his grandchildren over his son’s estate demanding paternity tests from the children.

The entertainment publication also states that the family is still waiting for necessary documents indicating how much each beneficiary should receive in Dingaan’s estate. It was also reported that during his time alive the boxer supported all his children, adding that, a few of his kids and Godfrey will be appearing in court due to the estate and DNA tests that were taken.
