JPC donates digital devices to Soweto Schools

IN closing the digital divide within local communities, the Johannesburg Property Company, donates desktop computers and laptops to Soweto schools.

Today, two recipients Lekang Primary School in Centra Western Jabavu and Tshireletso Primary School in Meadowlands- in Regions D and A, received their devices.

This initiative equips learners with the essential tools they need to thrive in the digital age, with each school receiving 20 desktop computers and 9 laptops, benefiting both students and educators in their academic pursuits.

Acting chief executive at JPC- Musa Makhunga, emphasized the significance of supporting education, stating: “This initiative is part of the City’s efforts to bolster the education system. By utilizing our available resources, we are ensuring that schools receive the necessary laptops and desktops.

We truly hope this initiative will make a meaningful impact in supporting learners and assisting schools in effectively preparing students to achieve their academic goals and succeed.”

JPC is dedicated to bridging the gap and ensuring that students in underserved communities are not left behind.

This donation represents a crucial step towards empowering learners with the digital tools needed to enhance their academic performance and prepare for future opportunities in the digital economy.

In expressing his excitement Thomas Chauke, the Acting Principal of Lekang Primary School sent his heartfelt gratitude for the donation, remarking: “To the City of Johannesburg, thank you. This contribution will greatly benefit our learners,” also noting they will have to take care of the devices not be stolen.

This is part of JPC’s commitment to Corporate Social Investment (CSI) and advancing digital transformation.

On February 14 Friday- Mikateka Primary School in Ivory Park, Midrand, will be next on line to receive its allocation of devices.
