NKABI Records has secured six nominations for the 2026 Metro FM Awards.
The label, who’s founder is a former taxi driver/owner, better known to us as ‘Big Zulu’ born Siyabonga Nene, continues to make strides in the country and promoting the Maskandi music.
Leading the charge is the multi-talentedand lady of the ‘house‘ Lwah Ndlunkulu – for Best Produced Album, Best African Pop, and the highly competitive Best Female Artist, categories.
Inkabi Nation, has been recognized for its unique chemistry and output with a nomination for Best Group/Duo, whereas Big Zulu received a nod in the Best Hip Hop category.
Siya Ntuli, another blossoming player has been nominated in the newly formed category Best Maskandi.
“This feels like a dream. To be recognized for Best Produced Album, Best Afro Pop, and Best Female Artist in one go is a huge blessing. I pour my soul into my music, hoping it touches someone, and to have it acknowledged like this by an institution like Metro FM means the world.
Thank you to my team and the fans who ride with me,” says Lwah.
“Being nominated in the very first year they introduced this category is something I cannot put into words,” said an emotional Siya Ntuli.
“Maskandi is the heartbeat of our people, the music of our ancestors. For Metro FM to create this platform and for me to be recognized in it is a huge responsibility. It means the culture is growing, and we are being seen on a mainstream level.
I dedicate this nomination to every maskandi artist who has kept this genre alive and to the fans who keep our stories going,” cited Siya.
