AS thousands of runners prepare to take on the world-renowned Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon powered by BYD this coming weekend, BYD South Africa is set to play a meaningful role in enhancing the pre-race and race-day experiences.
It will support participants not just in visibility, but in moments that matter most.
Taking place across multiple race categories, including the Trail Run, Half Marathon and Ultra Marathon, the event will see BYD integrated along key points of the route.
The brand’s involvement is designed to support runners physically and emotionally, contributing to the collective electric and human energy that defines one of the world’s most iconic endurance races.
Runners will also catch a look at some of BYD’s standout models, including the bold BYD Shark, the versatile Sealion 5, and the compact BYD Dolphin Surf.
“At its heart, the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon, powered by BYD is about resilience, determination and shared human spirit. Our role is to meaningfully add to that energy, showing up in ways that genuinely support runners and elevate their experience,” says Nomonde Kweyi, Marketing Director of BYD South Africa.
Along the route, BYD will activate high-energy cheer zones powered by a team of “Go Getters.” Positioned at strategic points, these zones are intended to uplift runners during more demanding stages of the race. Through encouragement, movement and atmosphere, the activations aim to provide timely boosts that can make a difference when it matters most.
Before race day, BYD’s presence begins at the official marathon Expo, taking place from 8 to 11 April.
Here, runners and supporters can engage with the brand in a more relaxed environment. The activation includes interactive elements such as a karaoke experience, as well as the opportunity to explore BYD’s range, including the Shark, Sealion 5 and Dolphin Surf, through curated test drive bookings.
At the finish line, the focus shifts from endurance to celebration. BYD’s glam cam activation will offer runners a moment to capture their achievement, transforming personal milestones into bold, magazine-style keepsakes that reflect the magnitude of the journey completed.
And for one lucky runner, the journey doesn’t end at the finish line. Hidden inside a race pack is a Golden Ticket, and with it, the keys to a brand-new BYD Dolphin Surf Comfort. For those unable to attend in person, selected elements of BYD’s involvement will also feature in the official broadcast on SABC Sport, extending the race-day atmosphere to audiences across South Africa.
