ONE hundred of Soweto’s small businesses and creative entrepreneurs will sell, show and tell their stories at the first Soweto Small Business Showcase, at Maponya Mall on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September 2026.
Presented by Soweto Tourism and supported by FNB and KAMERS/Makers, the Showcase builds on three years of Soweto Tourism events, relaunched under a new name with a bigger footprint and a fuller programme.
Visitors will find local fashion, homeware, craft and design brands alongside food and drink producers, with DJ Refiloe Motsei playing on the Saturday. For the businesses taking part, the two days offer direct access to new customers, marketing exposure and a place in a collective showcase of Soweto’s creative economy.
“Visitors are consistently impressed by South African creativity, and Soweto has it in abundance. Bringing these businesses together in one place gives entrepreneurs the visibility they need to grow, and that contributes to the greater good of the whole area,” says Thato Mothopeng, Chairperson of Soweto Tourism.
“Small businesses are at the heart of job creation and community development, and Soweto is home to a resilient and inventive entrepreneurial community,” says Kabelo Motheane, Regional Head for Gold Business at FNB Business.
“At FNB Business we are committed to giving entrepreneurs the networks, insights and market access they need to build sustainable businesses. This partnership shows what is possible when the private sector, tourism stakeholders and entrepreneurship platforms work together on the long-term growth of the township economy.”
KAMERS/Makers, South Africa’s largest commercial platform for the local economy, brings its event infrastructure and marketing experience to the Showcase.
“KAMERS/Makers has spent 24 years building opportunities for creative entrepreneurs, and it is an honour to put that experience to work in Soweto alongside FNB and Soweto Tourism,” says Ben-Carl Havemann, CEO of KAMERS/Makers.
“The creative economy is one of South Africa’s most valuable job creators. Our mission is to draw more attention to it and to the opportunities it holds for entrepreneurs.”
The Showcase is open from 09:00 to 20:00 on Saturday 26 September and from 09:00 to 17:00 on Sunday 27 September.
Tickets are R50 online via KAMERS/Makers or R65 at the gate.
