The Mandeni-raised radio celebrity was speaking his mind upon being asked what love meant to him, at a Cadbury P.S. promotion inside a Maponya Mall, a hive of activity with Saturday shoppers.

During the month of love and just a week before the much vaunted St Valentine’s Day – the, The Best Drive presenter thereafter wasted no breath by launching into a tirade of how the day has been commercialized – in the process distorting its essence standing, not only for romance, but for love of family, friends, colleagues, parents, etc.

Since the World is a mess, opined the radio man, in addition to the permeating of so much negativity – much reign ought to be given to celebrating Love!

Also giving of their time at the event was Alberton resident and actress, Makgotso Monyemokethoe.

The affable “yellowbone” struck some figure in a red-and-black cotton and lace dress [designed by a stylist buddy of hers] and passing shoppers, upon recognizing her, incessantly beat hasty retreats to her space to invariably engage in banter and snap selfies with her.

The 26 year old Brunel University [in the UK] Theatre Studies & Film graduate got very much into the spirit of the moment and at one point acceded to the request of some kids by plucking out white heart-shaped balloons forming some decoration structure at the Cadbury space, and thereafter gave out to them.

Having instantly spotted the erstwhile Muvhango and Isidingo actor, Cleo Mkhaliphi, a middle-aged passerby approached Monyemokethoe and immediately rolled out words of affirmation praising her uniqueness, beauty and above all, encouraging her not to let other people put her down!

Upon being queried regarding the effect of such feedback from a fan – the television star replied that the appreciation meant a lot to her. Equally generously giving of her attention to the media and visitors, the former Isidingo protagonist declared that she believed in Love; that God is Love and that Valentine’s Day was not only about the boy-meet-girl context, as generally misunderstood out there.

Revealing that she was currently single when pressed more regarding matters Love, Monyemokethoe couldn’t had been a more appropriate celebrity for the confectionery brand to rope along for its competition and complimentary activation since, in some of the roles she had been cast in in dramas, some of her characters had had to negotiate the topsy-turvy rigours of matters of the heart.

Appearing to cast a magnetic spell to the crowd, some spell-bound men offered to buy her chocolates and thereafter send her messages of endearment.

Meanwhile, visitors milled around the brand’s space to either record special video messages to loved ones and acquaintances from inside a designated booth or have chocolate bar codes scanned, in order to enable them to also enter a competition offering various prizes.
