Cansa to benefit healthly from the Bestmed bike race!

In partnership with Powerade Lost Cycle Challenge, BestMed present yet again the Lost City Mountain Bike in Rustenburg from August 17 to 18.

And Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) is once again the proud beneficiary.

Since 1998, the CANSA Lost City Cycling Challenge has grown into a ‘tour de force’ an awareness tool and fundraiser for CANSA’s wide-reaching service including prevention and education programmes as well as patient care and support to children and their families affected by cancer.

Riders and well-wishers will go through a number of villages and pass the 2010 World Cup stadia Royal Bafokeng Stadium, as well as the Royal Palace. Nice…

But be mindful of donkeys and other animals going astray. Just thought I should mention that because they will pass the Letsatsing Game Reserve. Ahem!

Bestmed’s Executive Head of Communications, Marketing, Sales and Distribution Alan Fritz, says Bestmed is continuously looking for opportunities that will support their strategic wellness pillars of Be Active, Be Safe, Be Nutri-Wise and Be Happy.

“It is for this reason that we have formed partnerships with CANSA and Incolabs. In addition, we’re committed to sponsoring the Bestmed Lost City MTB Classic race and other sporting events, with a view to encouraging South Africans to adopt a healthier lifestyle that will in the long term promote the prevention of ill health.

We know that achieving and maintaining optimal health is a combination of numerous factors, one of which is regular exercise,” says Fritz, who is health junkie.

According to race organizers, the 115km road race received an overhaul for the riders following numerous complaints owing to muscle pulls, so they say.

Johan du Toit, chief de Mission of the race, commented that:”We have received positive feedback from the riders, stating that although there are speed bumps, they feel a lot safer with limited traffic on the roads. We wanted to provide the riders with an idea of what it is like riding overseas, where technical skills are put to a test in bumpy roads,” he said.

The Bestmed Lost City Mountain Bike (MTB) Classic, now in its seventh year, has become one of the ‘must do’ events on the MTB calendar, as it covers both 25kms and 60kms, respectively.
