Carling Black Label Cup hots up as players are shuffled around due to injuries

Champions fans have just under a week to vote for their preferred starting line ups of the four teams participating in the Carling Black Label Cup on the 12th of November.

Voting lines for the team selection will close this Sunday, November 6 , at midnight. Fans of the final four teams will then be able to select their team’s preferred Captain via USSD or Facebook Messenger. Using the same voting mechanic, fans will then select the man of the match for  both semi-finals and the Carling Cup Final on match day.

In the first semi-final at 09h30am, Mamelodi Sundowns will take on AmaZulu. This fixture, will then be followed by a clash of the Soweto giants Chiefs and Pirates in the second semi-final at 12h00, followed by a penalty shootout to determine the third place, and then the final match will be played at 17h00.

Tickets are selling fast, and fans are encouraged to book their match day seats and make the necessary transport arrangements on time to avoid disappointment. As with every Carling Black Label Cup, fans will also be entertained with a performance by a headline act before the final. Tickets are still available on TicketMaster and Computicket.

Due to injury, some players have had to be removed from the starting line-up, however as promised, Champion fans will be given the opportunity to transfer their votes to an alternative player. Fans should look for sms communication from Carling Black Label that will inform them of ‘super votes’ which will reallocate all their votes.

Injured star players include Kaizer Chiefs fan-favourite Itumeleng Khune as well as Bon-Fils Caleb Bimenyimana who were both in the Carling Black Label Cup team, have now made for Brandon Petersen and Khama Billiat as goalkeeper and striker, respectively.

Mamelodi Sundowns strikers Cassius Mailula and Thabiso Kutumela have also made their way in to the starting line-up as Peter Shalulile and Abubaker Nasir have been ruled out after picking up injuries.

While Amazulu has only ruled out one player, Bonginkosi Ntuli who also has an injury. Although the striker was not in the current starting XI, he had accumulated just under 2500 votes. Fans of Usuthu who had voted for Ntuli will receive the votes back, and can use the votes to select any other player.

The Orlando Pirates starting line-up remains intact, with no injuries reported as fans have now voted in Monnapule Saleng and Miguel Timm in place of Vincent Pule and Fortune Makaringe.

To make any further changes to the current line-ups, football fans over the age of 18 can purchase a selected Carling Black Label beer and dial *120*660*unique code#; and select their starting line-up. Entry is 20c per 20 seconds on USSD and free for Vodacom users.

Carling Black Label and its partners once again encourage fans to book their tickets before it’s too late.

Tickets can only be purchased through Ticketmaster or Computicket (including selected Shoprite/Checkers stores).
