EPL welcomes Percy Tau with ‘open arms’

Born ‘Muzi’ in Mpumalanga Province (SA), is ‘roaring to go‘ as he makes a return to Brighton & Hove Albion for his much awaited debut.

The “Lion of Judah” as Tau is known, could make his first-eleven appearance this week when his team face second division side Blackpool in the FA Cup round 3.

Tau who was with PSL treble winners Mamelodi Sundowns was bought by “The Seagulls” for a record R50m deal but was shipped or loaned to Belgian second division side Saint Gilloise, following permit issues.

He was named Proximus League Player of the Year during his season with the club Union Saint-Gilloise in 2018/19 season.

He joined former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany at Anderlecht, were he made magic with his feet thus stamping his credibility and love with the club’s fans and coach.

In wishing him well, Kompany said he’s a special player with an abundance of talent that must be nurtured. An emotional farewell was conducted for the player.

“Percy is a player with a top-level football brain,” Kompany was quoted during interview with website Kickoff.com. “On top of his talent and his ability on the ball, Percy works hard, so that’s why we’re a good match. He’s a talented player that works hard and has the right attitude towards his teammates. Within our team, it’s easy for him to improve. It’s easy for him to show his better side, but none of it would be possible without his willingness to work.

“When you see Percy for the first time in training, straight away you think he’s an artist, someone who likes the beautiful gesture, the beautiful dribble. He’s an artist with an edge, which is exactly the reason why I value him so much. It’s a mix of his talent and his hard work and for me, that’s a non-negotiable, and that’s why he fits in really well with our team.”

He played in the Champions League against top sides Manchester United, Paris Saint Germain and Real Madrid.

The (26) also posted images of him resplendent in his team jersey- and will be wearing No. 22 jersey during the EPL season.

The left-footed striker-cum midfielder has played 28 matches for Bafana Bafana and has scored 12 goals.

Tau follows in the SA soccer stars footsteps such as Lucas Radebe, Shaun Bartlett, Old John Mabizela, Quinton Fortune, Gary Baily, Steven Pienaar, who had a stint in one of the world’s competitive elites league.

Brighton & Hove Albion is currently languishing at position 17 with 14 points.

With the introduction of “The Lion of Judah” things could only improve.
