The Gideon’s Army Prayer Warriors is a faith based organisation founded out of the calling of God to deliver his people, the people of South Africa, back to the path of God.
Through intensive prayer and intercession upon the leadership of the country in particular that of the African National Congress and its President.
Gideon was a Biblical deliverer of Ancient Israel, in the time of the Medinites attacks whom God raised him to bring the nation of Israel back to Him, so He, God could protect her. Gideon raised an army of 20 000 which was reduced by God to just 300 men (men who understood purpose)
These 300 men subdued the might of the Medinites by the interactions and directives of God Almighty.
The Gideon’s Army therefore is a body of Christians, comprising of Ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Intercessors and Psalmists/Worship leaders, some of these men and women are, in the main, active participants in the political discourse and structures of the ANC and the ANC led government.
“The President of the Republic of South Africa, his Excellency Dr. Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Mhlanganyelwa Zuma is a sanctified president of our Republic, as he remains, by people’s choice, the president of the ANC. He should, without any equivocation, remain the servant”, says Pastor Siphiwe Emacous Moyo.
The president of the country was recently found by the highest court of the land as having acted inconsistently with his oath of office. In that he failed to uphold the constitution in executing the remedial actions of the Public Protector to pay back monies relating to non-security features of his homestead at Nkandla. We acknowledge the landmark judgment especially in clarifying the binding effect of the report of the Public Protector on the President. Yet we have an obligation as the body of Christ that is based in the understanding of the bible and the biblical directive given by the Word of God.
1 Timothy 2:1-3 reads that:
“1. First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,
- for Kings and all who are in high positions that they may lead a peaceful and quiet life, Godly and dignified in every way,
- this is good and it is pleasing in the site of God our Saviour.” Our stance is and will always be, to pray for the leadership of the country according to protocol. We believe that the President of the country deserves an opportunity to be forgiven based on the fact that he has poured his heart in the nation and sincerely apologized.
Furthermore, the word of God teaches us in studying the book of Romans 13:1-5 that says, and I quote
“1. “let every soul be subject to the authorities that above {him}. For there is no authority except from God; and those that exist are set up by God.
- so that he that sets himself in opposition to resists the ordinance of God; and they who {thus} resist shall bring sentence of guilt on themselves.
3. for rulers are not terror to a good work, but no to an evil {one}. Dost thou desire then not to be afraid of the authority? Practice {what is} good, and thou shalt have praise from it.
4. for it is God’s minister to thee for good. But if thou practisest evil, fear; for it bears not the sword in vain; for it is God’s minister, an avenger for wrath to him that does evil.
- wherefore it is necessary to be subject, not only on account of wrath, but also on account of conscience.”
We therefore respect the will and the guidance of God on this matter which is the plight to forgive the President and Pray for him.
We have NO moral ground to persecute and recall the President of the Republic and those who have no sin should throw the first stone; John 8:7.
We have seen the first stone being thrown by politicians, members of our society and worse of all by Christian leaders the likes of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa, Presiding Bishop Ziphozihle Siwa and all other Christians who are planning to do so.
How unholy thou art. We rebuke and we believe that such people, especially those who are Christians need to be clear and relevant to our society in the role of the church in our government.
Our call goes out to all the members of our society, walks of different faith of religions, especially Christians, at large, to join us as we pray for the country and its leadership on the 29th of April 2016.
Details of the Mass Prayer will be communicated in due course.
