“I WILL only apologise when the courts instructs me to” says unrepentant Dr JJ Onkgopotse Tabane.
This is as Dr Tabane faces legal battle with former finance minister Trevor Manuel, on allegations he was involved in the formation of the ANC splinter group Cope.
In his defence Manuel has denied such and took the matter to court.
The popular TV host Dr Tabane has remained resolute and said he stood by what he said. ‘It’s a fact not allegation’ he was quoted.
“I cannot speak about the case but stand by what I said; and will only apologise when the court instructs him to,” says Dr Tabane.
“Many people are donating money for me to fight the case because they see it as free speech more than anything, so it is not my money, I will at the end of the process do a tally. After the case we will donate the rest of the money.
I think I am being fair by standing by my story. His lawyers asked that we don’t repeat the allegations until the court pronounces on the matter,” he said.
The case has been postponed to June 14.
