BORN Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, yes for the uninitiated I’m referring to Doja Cat.
The serial Grammy award winner is headed ‘home’ SA, for her first appearance as headline act for the Hey Neighbour Season 2 musical experience.
It has been scheduled for August, at the Legends Adventure Farm.
The ‘Say So’, ‘Kiss Me More’, ‘Paint the Town Red’, and ‘Woman’ will share the stage with other artists to be confirmed at a later stage.
Doja Cat’s dynamic performances and boundary-pushing artistry have solidified her as one of the most exciting and influential artists of her generation.
“We are beyond excited to welcome Doja Cat to the Hey Neighbour Festival stage,“ said Glen Netshipise, CEO of Hey Neighbour Festival.
“Her energy, creativity, and ability to connect with audiences on a global scale make her the perfect artist to kick off what will be an epic festival lineup. This is just the beginning—we have more incredible acts to reveal soon!”
Since 2023, Hey Neighbour has cemented itself in the South African festival scene, bringing together music lovers from all walks of life for an immersive experience filled with world-class performances, interactive installations, and an electrifying atmosphere
Doja Cat was born October 21, 1995 in Los Angeles, California to Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer, a painter and Dumisani Dlamini, an actor.
She began making and releasing music on SoundCloud as a teenager.
Her mom, Deborah is of Jewish descent and her dad, Dumisani is a South African.
Attempts to reach her father proved fruitless, to solicit a response on her daughter performing in SA for the very first time.
Phase 1 tickets for the 2025 edition Hey Neighbour Festival are on sale now.
