If poetry is in your genes then Napo Masheane and Friends is your cup of tea!

Masheane –poet, director, playwright and motivational speaker will be joined on stage by Friends: Ladies In Jazz, The Fat Black Women Sing & Beyond Vocal.

The showpiece is altered from its 2008 run, paying homage to the development and fortification of spoken word, where Afro Jazz and spiritual sounds of Gospel would rejuvenate music language through layers of life.

The accapela group Beyond Vocal will provide the Gospel sounds and Fat Black Women Sing bring humor, style and beauty.

As we celebrate Good Friday and Easter Weekend, respectively, this years’ theme is Poetry meets Gospel & Jazz.

The Qwa-Qwa born says her acclaimed play ‘A New Song’ was written specifically to honour and celebrate ordinary women in South African history who contributed a lot before democracy in 1994.

Thandy Matlaila from Aptitude Consulting PR says they expect a full house on both dates.

On April 2 it starts 8pm and 6pm on 5.

Tickets: R30 students and R80 adults
