‘I’m not joining EFF for positions’ says axed PP Mkhwebane

THE Red Berets are hard at work preparing for national elections in 2024.

This follows the announcement of new member in the form of impeached former Public Protector Adv Busisiwe Mkhwebane.

She joined the Economic Freedom Fighters during her member registration at her home province Kwaggafontein, Mpumalanga, at a car-wash.

“I joined the EFF because I could relate to their seven cardinal pillars. Our people are landless, and the EFF is saying that they would expropriate land without compensation.

“I believe that the State should be creating and enabling an environment for the poor and marginalised, especially on issues of the economy,” she was quoted.

The former PP believed the State should own economic structures and education should be free.

“I could relate to the EFF. As Public Protector, I said I would protect the poor and marginalised, so with the EFF, I can continue to do that.

“I am not joining the EFF for positions. I was dealt harshly by the ANC and DA, and at the end of the day, I could stand this treatment to expose them for not being there for the poor and marginalised,” she said, while pledging to be a loyal, active, and disciplined member of the EFF.

She said she was confident she would make a massive contribution to the party.

Mkhwebane said the EFF was her first political home and clarified that she was never part of the African National Congress (ANC).

She said that while she was treated harshly by the ANC and the Democratic Alliance (DA), this was not a move fuelled by disgruntlement.

She was voted out as PP by majority of Parliament, as per Section 194 inquiry that recommended her removal on grounds of incompetence and misconduct.

Mkhwebane is joined by ANC former youth leader Magasela Mzobe, who also joined the EFF this week.

Mzobe announced his resignation on social media on Saturday, stating that he could no longer stand or defend the ANC’s policy choices and decisions.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, Mzobe said: “Friends and comrades. I have decided to officially resign from the ANC as I can no longer consciously associate with or defend its decisions and policy choices.

“To comrades I met in the ANC, SA Students’ Congress (SA Students’ Congress) and the ANCYL who became my family. I wish our brotherhood and sisterhood are not affected by this decision.”

Indeed, the EFF has been busy recruiting in time for 2024 national elections.
