Inkabi Zezwe receives awards at GQ awards in preparation for Grammys nominee

THEY’VE just submitted their music to be considered for the 66th Grammy Awards.

This weekend the duo received two accolades at the GQ South AfricaMen of the Year event, to elevate their chances.

Inkabi Zezwe, made up of ‘brothers’ Big Zulu and Sjava from Bergville, KwaZulu- Natal,whosubmitted their album Ukhamba for the Grammies for 2024, are on a rotation nationally.

They also submitted their album for Best Global Music Album, Best Engineered Album (Non-Classical), and Best Immersive Audio Album, and are hoping the Recording Academy appreciates their hit single, Umbayimbayi.

They submitted the song in the categories of Best African Music Performance and Best Global Music Performance, respectively.

Yes, these Inkabi Zezwe (an isiZulu term of endearment used in the context of music, describes a unified brotherhood) are hard at work.

At the GQ awards they received awards for their album “Ukhamba” released this year, that is celebrated as a Culture Game Changer of the year recognizing the Duo as Musicians Of The Year 2023.

As a fitting double celebration, Sjava, who coincidentally celebrated his 40th birthday on the same day, emphasized the significance of the accolade and reached the metaphorical “40th floor” of success. The artist noted that this moment called for a celebration of both personal milestones and professional achievements.

Warner Music Africa artists, featured a captivating performance byKiddo CSA, who opened the evening with a mesmerizing hip-hop medley. The atmosphere was further heightened by Dato, a rising star born in Botswana, whose clean vocals captured the audience’s attention during her performance of the latest single, “The Vow”.

The celebration continued into the night with an electrifying after-party, ignited by Malumz on Deckz’s one-hour set.

Inkabi Zezwe, a project initiated in 2022, celebrates the connection they have as Zulu brothers and musicians. It’s a collaboration that places them at the precipice of an interesting moment in music and culture.
