He had just flown in from abroad where he’s busy with arrangements to bring allegedly ‘SADE’ to SA. Can’t wait!
Due to his demanding schedule, Touch was one of the three judges/scouts to honour the KwaZulu-Natal born “Isesh” who’s the ultimate winner of the long and intriguing Jack Daniel’s Music Scout project.
Nqobizizwe Buthelezi aka “Isesh” beat other contender’s Lection and Velvet Suite, to win a trip to US.
He will be accompanied by musical gurus Vinny Da Vinci, Touch-himself and Mandla “Spikiri” who were the judges/scouts.
This epic campaign kicked off in July 2013 in partnership with the JD Music Scouts moving around the country to provide a platform to countless aspiring musicians at over 70 regional warm-up gigs.
Contestants were nominated from a combination of public votes via the Jack Daniel’s Facebook page and valuable input from the JD Music Scouts themselves.
The winner “iSesh” said:”The competition was very tough but I’m so happy to have won. I’m still in shock!”
“The support from the audience on the night was amazing and I had such a good time.”
“It was a tight line-up,” continued the jubilant Survey Engineering student at Mangosuthu University of Technology, who confessed he draws inspiration from both Vinny and Christos.
JD Music Scout “Spikiri” waxed lyrically that:” “iSesh” was able to rock the crowd, and for someone who is new in the game to be able to achieve that, proves there is something special about him. His music selection was really well thought out and well rehearsed.”
JD Music scouts project follows other initiatives whose mission seeks to unearth raw talent countrywide.
Jack Daniel’s marketing manager -South Africa, Dino D’Araujo was happy with the outcome of the project and said:”Both internationally and locally our music programs focus on grass-root development, helping aspiring musicians showcase their talent. We feel that this is in the spirit of Jack Daniel’s.
Naturally we are delighted with the talent we have unearthed through the Jack Daniel’s Music Scouts program, and remain committed to helping these artists showcase their talent.”
According to the PR team the trip will either take place in June or September this year depending on the winner’s availability.
To wrap up the evening, T-Bo Touch belted out his Hip Hop stuff, followed by “Spikiri” the Godfather known for his kwaito reputation, and Vinny as expected brought the house down. And he did…
Being a pilot project next year promises to be more exciting as a result of interest from ‘wanne-be’ vinylists.
Oh, and ‘Uncle Jacks’ various brands flowed as expected until wee hours of the morning!
