Headed by celebrated jazz flautist and singer C’nky Siwela, the festival makes its return after a successful spell earlier in October this year, were young music fundis and jazz enthusiasts gathered to learn and impart skills with their counterparts.

The TsaLapeng Youth Jazz Orchestra provides a great platform for young artists to pursue and broaden their knowledge and understanding of South African Jazz music, and it’s an educational and music development event aimed at strengthening the South African taste of music like Jazz, Kwela and Afro-pop, among others.

Participating groups will be TsaLapeng Youth Jazz Orchestra, C’nky Siwela Flute Institute Ensemble, Hammanskraal Joyful Sounds and Moretele Youth Ensemble.

The young artists will benefit through concert performances, participation in Ensemble training, music theory and rehearsals, according to the organisers.

Also, well known Oupa Lebogo, Secretary General of the Musicians Association of South Africa(MASA) will provide a three-hour music business, importantly for those who prefer to be behind the scenes.

The workshop will be based on Needletime, Music Submission Policies of SABC Radio and TV and the SABC’s 90% local content.

Proceeds will be used for instrument maintenance, salaries for teachers and staff and for scholarships for two selected flute students at C’nky Siwela Flute Institute to attend flute masterclasses in Belgium with Professor Marc Grawels on April 2017.

Tickets for the festival are available from R100 and can be purchased at 071 582 6332 or 078 6477 320.
