YES, it has been compared to Lamborghini Urus, a good sign for the brand new Jetour X70.
Another Chery international brand, Jetour is penetrating the SUV market as its siblings Omoda and Jaecoo.
On the ride, it’s comfortable, as it comes with massive 19-inch rims, which come standard on its derivatives, claiming 0-100km/h 10.74 seconds.
On compliments, thanks to the interior, where you get six-way electric adjustment for the driver’s seat only, synthetic leather, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and infotainment system, wireless charging, a panoramic glass sunroof and a third row of seats.
Added is keyless entry, 360-degree panoramic view parking assist, automatic LED headlights, an electric tailgate, automatic rain sensors and an additional two speakers since it was the top of the range Deluxe derivative.
During the test, I used both Eco and In Sport modes- but when, you accelerate it does wake up, just be mindful it will leisurely break into wheelspin if you’re too hard with your acceleration, which at times did not impress.
Eco is ideal for open roads; but got tired of having to navigate through the settings controlled via the infotainment system each time I wanted to change modes.
When refilling, it was a mission because I did not interrogate upon delivery, where the fuel cap is located, only to find out it’s strategically hidden under the fitted carpet.
Silly me…
It claimed 8.7 litres/100km with fuel range at 706.
Jetour X70 is fitted with 6speed DCT, torque 230 Nm@ 1750-4000 rpm.
Its so spacious I was tempted to invite Bafana Bafana team for a braai, as they embarked on AFCON qualifying games, of which they booked a flight to Morocco that will host the spectacle in 2025.
It might be a completely new brand, but Jetour – which sold an impressive 562 units in October, its first full month of operation – currently has 40 dealerships around the country, as well as a warehouse holding over R100 million worth of parts.
The company also plans to expand its portfolio to include the more rugged-looking T1 and T2 models in 2025.
It comes with a five-year or 60,000km service plan and a general warranty spanning five years or 150,000km, and a 10-year or one-million-kilometre engine warranty for the first owner.
Retails between R454,900 and R484,900
