Land Rover adds more Boks to its ambassadorial list

The four players join Lukhanyo Am and Bryan Habana, who also received new Defender 110s as part of their Land Rover ambassadorships earlier this year.

The full team of Defender ambassadors also includes award-winning singer Lira and well-known sports presenter Elma Smit who were announced as short-wheelbase Defender 90 ambassadors last month.

Renowned adventurers Kingsley and Ross Holgate complete the Defender ambassador line-up with two expedition-ready 110s which have been used for humanitarian efforts since July 2020.

Land Rover was also the Official Vehicle of this year’s British & Irish Lions Tour to South Africa.

As part of the partnership a fleet of 11 new Discoverys was loaned to the Tour to keep players and members of management from both sides mobile for the duration of the tournament.

Trevor Nyakane said: “I feel privileged to be part of Land Rover’s ambassador programme and to be officially welcomed to #TeamDefender. As part of the winning 2021 Springbok team against the British & Irish Lions, I know all about conquering great challenges, and this vehicle aligns perfectly with what we stand for – grit, courage and determination.

The Defender is capable of great things, and the Springboks have proven they are too.”

“The Defender is a symbol of modern strength and I can’t think of a vehicle that suits my lifestyle and profession better. It’s big, tough and I look forward to my time with it. I’m already planning some exciting adventures,” says Pieter-Steph du Toit.

Land Rover has a 20-year heritage and commitment to rugby, and has broad portfolio of rugby partnerships around the world that spans all levels of the game from grassroots to the world stage. Land Rover has been an official partner of SA Rugby since 2017.
