With international airlines now extending their presence in South Africa and the Continent, the briefing made sense to understand what was the position and future projections of Emirates Airlines in the industry facing economic depreciation.

Also this had to with changing image from just being an airline but to a lifestyle brand that everyone can associate with.

“Our’s is to understand what are your thoughts in taking our airline forward. Yes, be critical and transparent in your criticism but also allow us to make you understand the dynamics this industry is facing,” says Caunhye.

“We live in fast paced life were technology and digital media is forever changing. That’s why we’ve called for this engagement to lend us an ear, on how to better our service, improve staff morale and more importantly, how we uphold this brand,” he says.

On the controversial Unabridged Certificate Caunhye noted, that he fully understands the Government’s undertaking more so, to do with child trafficking and so forth, but says consultations needs to take place by all industry players: tourism and home affairs departments in making sure the law does not impact or hinder tourist visits in the country.

“We hope in the New Year common understanding and proper resolutions would be founded by all involved.”

Emirates Airline has been operating in SA since 1995, and has made great strides since then.

Meanwhile, with recent news that Qatar Airways will be flying directly from Doha to Durban, the competition in the air is becoming palpable.

There will be four flights a week that began December 17 this year.

As for Skyways its sky no more!
