From humble beginnings with no basic services to being unpaid for performances are some of the realities these ‘fab-four’ had to endure until they reached their dreams thanks to Mageu, which conceptualised the ‘Dream’ documentary.
‘Dream’s showcases the lives of the four people, what they’ve achieved in their respective fields as well as speaks to their struggles and how they’ve hung on to their dreams. They share their stories in an honest, inspiring and often humorous way.
Bhoza Mphela is from Limpopo and a former radio presenter. She’ an artist and owns her event and management company. Mphela is the founding member of the project Rise Limpopo as well as a motivational speaker for Youth for Youth South Africa.
She’s described by his fellows in the doccie as ‘drama-queen’.
Pule Earm (originally from Orange Farm) is a Sowetan from Mapetla East. Better known as “The General”, is a filmmaker and owns his own self titled company trading under Young Minds Productions.
Talkative and very opinionated, the latter also owns a motorsport company called “Soweto Drift Group”.
The tall and dreadlocked Sithembile Ngcobo, is a cameraman from Pietermaritzburg, Natal.
Despite working at Capitol Caterers, S’the loves his camera, which has seen him being commissioned for big clients such as Peroni Cruise, Durban July and providing photographic services for a hotel.
Hip Hop artist Tlhaki Lekganyane, is a Soweto born but Tembisa based.
Having shared stage with popular artists within the hip hop genre, ‘Jay Stash’ his stage name has seen it all from being rejected to being unpaid (ba-monocker) by promoters.
“But that has been the journey one would have to go through to be where you wanna be,” he said at the screening of their doccie.
For their efforts, DJ Sbu has been roped as motivational speaker.
The Mageu Number 1 team announced that later in the year, they’ll be taking Dreams to varsities around the country.
“His values match those of our brand, and we see Dreams and DJ Sbu’s motivational message as key to inspiring the young people of South Africa,” says Foodcorp Beverage Division’s brand manager, Amanda Dlamini.
