This follows the so called ‘independent assessment found his bowling action to be illegal’ by the international Cricket Council and the minister of sport Fikile Mbalula wants answers.
This is on the eve of the World T20 campaign, that begins this Friday against Australia in South Africa, meaning he would not feature in first two home clashes.
Phangiso, had been reported for a suspect illegal bowling during his side Highveld Lions’ win against the Warriors in the semi-finals of the Momentum One-Day Cup at the Wanderers.
In a terse statement, Mbalula has called on the leadership and administrators within Cricket South Africa (CSA) to save the talent and future of this black diamond and other players who might be faced with similar misfortunes.
“All this should not serve as ammunition to those who continue to slow our transformation objectives.”
Cricket SA, confirmed the news but also pointed that he remains in the squad to work alongside South Africa’s spin bowling coach Claude Henderson and CSA’s high performance manager Vinnie Barnes in an effort remould his action.
Various cricket commentators also believe there’s a lot happening behind the scenes.

Says Mbalula:” We need further clarity on this matter and shall not rest until we’re convinced of the outcome of the suspension.”
The Garankuwa (Pretoria born) Phangiso will now only be allowed to play in next month’s World T20 after undergoing a second round of independent tests next week.
At the time of publishing CSA spokesperson Altaff Kazi had not responded for comment.
