And having seen some images, our “Mbaks” is having a jol with world’s best and Barca stars such as Argentinian Lionel Messi and Neymar (Brazil).
The minister visited Spain responding to an invite by LaLiga that sought to solidify relations between South Africa and the league.
Mbalula is hosted by the President of LaLiga, Javier Tebas and Director of LaLiga in Africa Antonio Barradas.
The minister is pleased by the hospitality of LaLiga and their interest and vision of availing their experience, resources and expertise to help the development of football in South Africa.
Minister Mbalula used this opportunity to visit LaLiga’s football academies. This, to view the infrastructure and facilities that make their Spanish League a great success. It was on this occasion that the Minister enjoyed the company of Barcelona FC legends.
On his visit to Camp Nou, the home of Barcelona Football Club, the Minister was impressed at how the stadium has been transformed into a hub of economic activities and a living monument that honors football legends.
“The stadium is not only a beehive of entertainment but it captures the rich history of the football club. More to this is the stadium’s economic sustainability which our own stadiums like Moses Mabhida have managed to do with success.
More needs to be done in transforming our own stadiums into areas of honouring our football legends and centres of economic activity,” said “Mbaks”.
On the conclusion of this visit, Mbalula will sign a Memorandum of Understanding that will herald a new chapter between the department of Sport and Recreation South Africa and LaLiga in the development of football.
This will be another opportunity for the minister to meet some players (already has) and attend the game.
