Meyiwa Bafana skipper!

Shakes Mashaba made the announcement late Thursday afternoon, before the team departed for the first and only training session ahead of Friday’s group A encounter.

Meyiwa was preferred ahead of Anele Ngcongca, who has worn the captain’s armband in previous matches.

First-choice goalkeeper and captain Itumeleng Khune will miss next week’s second qualifier against Nigeria in Cape Town.

Meanwhile, Chiefs goal-minder Khune has been withdrawn from the team due to injury.

Already talks doing rounds is that Chiefs are to blame for his injury.

Since the beginning of the 2014/15 season Itu; hasn’t had a rest resulting in some blaming fatigue and burn-out.
